Have you ever asked yourself how many joomla site are out there up and running?
Who creates them? Who use them? How? and so on?

Well, we have. Why? Simple, because of the growing community around Joomla (a.k.a. "the joomlsphere") we received the following assignment at university: a class presentation about the Joomla community. The task, at a first look, seemed easy because of the number of forums, blog and information available about the topic. After few days of browsing the huge amount of J related websites and readings hundreds of forum posts we were still struggling to find any good figure apart from download hits, number of available extensions and similar.

So we came out with the idea of creating a survey about it to get the data we needed to  present to our fellow students the joomla phenomenon....what a great idea! Where to start from then? Well... the survey... ;-)While working on the survey we thought that, as we did, probably many others on the web were faced with the same problems and questions. So what can be a better solution to understand Joomla then just using it? By reading the various forums around the world and on the official Joomla.org website we were amazed by the active community of people dedicated to it, helping each other with support, developement, creating events like joomladays and so on...soon we started feeling joomla our self too! This Joomla feeling effect we were contaminated with, made our self not only deciding to give back to the joomla community the results of our survey but to get people discussing with us the survey itself, and propose their surveys too... Joomlasurveys.com: Because understanding is everything!

At the moment only our first survey is here to be answered by you, but just upload your own and we will put it online for you. We decided that  a maximum of 10 simultaneously running surveys will be offered on this page otherwise the whole things looses his power to gain consistent answer and data, so a waiting cue for proposed surveys (if any) will be created and discussion in our forums will take place to decide which topic are the most interested by the vast majority of you. You can read further about this here.

So thanks for answering our first Survey and finger crossed...hoping good results for everybody to use will come out of it soon! PS: if you like our "modus operandi", our project and wanna help us keeping it active just donate us some bucks...we will use them for the hosting and related running costs as well as some basic advertising in order to get more people here filling the surveys. So in this way donations translates to just more accurate results and bigger amount of data for better analysis (by no meaning we will accept donations for having surveys displayed here, we will not charge now, nor in the future for accessing the output, and of course we cannot be liable for any results deriving from it, anyway, raw datasets will be also provided to be downloaded for registered users).
